[ tutorial ] Lenovo Vibe X update to android KitKat with play store

Vibe x flashing new rom

Lenovo vibe x smartphone was introduced in quarter end of 2013. As you all know, Lenovo is a Chinese company that well known in computer industries. Well no wonder that this phone has heavily customized Chinese ROM in it with no play store.

If you already buy this phone, and feel frustrated, wait..

Read first my post, hope it will change your experience in using vibe x smartphone. As I already mention, this phone is heavily customized Chinese ROM, so you will feel the lagging even with the quad core cpu. To minimize it, there are many ways, one is to replace the ROM.

Instruction to update your lenovo vibe x
smartphone to android kitKat.
( recommended to use this tutorial with video here )

Alert ! Be alert that, by doing this you may void phone warranty and brick it. Use it at your own risk

Step 1:
-Download your file here
-extract lenovo vibe x zip file with password : pagestuff.blogspot.com
-IMPORTANT read first the READ ME FIRST doc to get the password to extract vibe x ROM 4.4.2 with recovery plus root.. Inside there still have 5 more file including link to download the ROM...

Step 2:
Turn off your phone

Step 3:
-Right click my computer
-Click manage
-click device manager
-connect the USB cable
-quickly find the mt preloader and right click
-click update driver
-choose to install from a list
-choose don't search. I will choose the driver to install
-click for ports
-click have disk
-click browse
-search and click usb2ser_2kXP.inf
Finished installing the ports..

Step 4:
Disconnect USB cable

Step 5:
Extract all zip except root.zip

Step 6:
-open flash tool
-make sure click DA DL box
-click scatter-loading and find the scatter file in the ROM
-make sure all box are tick
-click download. Wait for it to loading the ROM
-make sure phone are completely off and connect USB cable
-flashing process take place. Wait around 10 min
-when you see green circle, that means flashing process is done

Step 7:
-disconnect USB cable and turn on phone
(First start up take several min. Just relax)

Step 8:
Hahaha... Just enjoy your newly android KitKat with play store...

Note: 
1. If can't install vcom for window 7 or later, you have to disable digital driver signature at window setting.

2. If you experience bad signal reception, to solve :-

 a) recover imei using MTKdroids tools.

 b) must have twrp recovery already installed in your phone not the stock recovery.

    Mgkin anda pye mt preloader install dgn incorrectly.. Lgkah yg perlu anda buat ialah dgn uninstall balik driver s960..@pun anda boleh try guna komputer lain..semoga berjaya

    hai sy nk tnya a few days ago sy punya lenovo vibe x habis battery pastu bila dh charge and nak on dia kata in meta mode. and bila press power button with volume up + down dia keluar android system recovery <3e>. bila reboot dia still x boleh buka. so i dont know what to do now

      Bile charge sy try on, screen off/black x boleh tgk ape2. Tp sy try usik2 screen still ada rasa vibrate. Dan masuk simcard, org call dpt. Cuma screnn blank. Xnmpk ape2. Dan sometime screen juga jadi panas. Sy pakai hp ni x sampai setahun.

      da pernah buat rooted? install recovery? update phone online? tekan power button and hold for 5-8 seconds, this supposed to force power off your phone, kemudian cas phone anda. lihat ada lambang battery tgh cas x?

      x pnh buat rooted. dah byk kali tekan power button and hold tapi still blank. bile charge pun sama. blank xde lambang pape. hanya lampu tgh charge je menyala. mainboard problem KE?

    Hello fir das, mt preloader appears but before the installation of the driver finished my phone shows charging and the mt preloader disappears. But still the installation finished without error.
    After selecting download on the flash tool, after the download it says searching.
    But when I connect my phone, the com port shows in device manager and disappears and my phone goes to charging mode again then the flashing stops and flash tool show error 8038.
    Nothing is changes in my phone.

      Please check your USB cable connection so that not loose. If loose, use other cable.. Then uninstall vibe x driver from device manager > other.. After that follow the steps in the video to install vcom correctly..

    Salam bro firdas, saya user vibe x ni, accidently format firmware pakai flashtool, phone tak boleh on, dah ikut cara bro install vcom driver, and yg lain lain. ada sekali try flash recovery, dpt, lepas tu tak dpt dpt dah

      Utk flash tools, biarkn ia loading file2 dlu..slpas tu, make sure phone di off..dn connect USB ke computer bila flash tools tnjukkn message searching..dn sepatutnya phone anda dpt didetect dn proses flashing bermula..tggu shingga keluar green circle bru disconnect USB dn on phone...       tau, sebelum ni pernah flash lenovo s939, success, so procedure mesti sama kan, part seraching tu, dah connect dgn usb cable. dia tak bergerak, nak ckp tak detect, dekat device manager - port ada mediatek usb vcom port. minta bantuan

    hello fir das, i stuck at stage 6, after pushing the download bottun on SP tool i'm getting 8038 error, every solution i found in the net didnwt work for me, what can i do?

      1. try push upgrade button instead of download
      if still not ok,
      2. uninstall all other driver for phone on pc such as kies then reinstall the vcom
      if still not ok,
      3. Used other pc
      still not ok,
      4. tell me more :)

      tujuan password nie dibuat adalah utk memastikan updater(iaitu anda) tahu dan faham akan risiko yg bakal dihadapi apabila anda update phone dgn melibatkn process root, flash dan sbgainya yg boleh mengakibatkan phone anda kehilangan warranty, soft brick mahupun hard brick.

    I got something wanna ask you..
    My phone is 16gb so I use usb2ser_2kXP in step 3?
    After I finish loading the flash tool, the bottom of the box will show "searching", at that time I plug in my USB but my phone shows charging and the flash tool box is still showing "searching" like no respond. I tried few times but still the same.

      yes you can use usb2ser_2kXP. the problem is you are not properly install the vcom file. mt preloader only shows for about 5 second, you must quckly right click that and update vcom. To sove, uninstall any s960 from device manager then follow back the step to install vcom. good luck

      force close dgn menekan button power sampai screen off.
      charge dulu fon sampai bateri hampir penuh.
      kemungkinan masalah nie berpunca dari unproper vcom instalation.
      recommended to use window xp.
      go to device manager,
      uninstall any s960 driver.
      follow step above again to install vcom.( make sure to right click the vcom fast as it only appear for 5 second)
      then follow all the rest of the steps above.
